Dr. Jeff Jones

Veterinarian

Like most of my colleagues, I decided to become a Veterinarian because I love animals. I can’t imagine life without them.

Along with my wife Deborah and our children Jenny and Chris, I attended Texas A&M University, and graduated from the College of Veterinary Medicine in 1987. We went to Dalhart (the coldest place in Texas) and I worked for my uncle in a mixed animal practice and later owned and operated that clinic until we ALL moved to Central Texas in January of 1996.

I have been in small animal only practice since. I purchased Harker Heights Veterinary Hospital from Dr. Aycock in 1998 and in May 2001 merged with Country Trails Animal Hospital to form Pet Medical Center.

Deborah and I spend our "free" time with our wonderful grandchildren Jacob and Julia and our  3 dogs, Jack, May and Bill, and 2 cats, Bruce and Kenny and a hermit crab, Rambo, 2 Parolets (they  have different names every week!)

I love what I do! It is the most challenging and rewarding job I can Imagine. We get to do everything here from keeping pets healthy with preventive medicine, to rebuilding broken bones, to treating critical medical cases and even chemotherapy for cancer. Wagging tails and purrs are priceless.

Dr. Kristey Reed

Veterinarian
Growing up I always knew I wanted to be a veterinarian. Even though this a common phase that many children go through, I fortunately never out grew it. I received my BS in Biomedical Science from Texas A&M and went on to receive my DVM from A&M in May 2008.

I love working with furry four-legged kids and was fortunate enough to find a group of people who shared my desire to provide high quality medical care while also focusing on client education.

I have the best job in the world. I have the opportunity to see new and interesting things all the time and provide all the help that I can for my patients and their people. I can’t imagine doing anything else with my life!

When I am not at the clinic, I enjoy playing fetch with my three dogs Bailey (Labrador), Zoe (Rough Coated Collie), and Koda (Australian Shepherd). I also enjoy reading, kayaking, tae kwon do, photography, and watching television with my cats, Tabitha (Long Haired Tuxedo) and Todd (Dosmetic Short Hair Brown Tabby).

Jane

Receptionist
Jane came from England in October 2002, and started working as a receptionist at the Clinic in May 2003. She finds the work very different, after 32 years in the banking business in the U.K., but more enjoyable.

Jane is a great supporter of Siamese Rescue and adores all oriental cats. Molly and Abby, her Golden Retreivers, are usually to be found snoozing under the desk whenever Jane is working. They are pretty much inseperable.

Working with animals has been my passion since I was a kid and I've been working in veterinary medicine for the last 10 years.  I attended the Vet Tech Institute in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania earning my Veterinary Technician degree/license in 2006.  I'm recently married to my amazing and handsome husband Matt; we relocated to Texas from Long Island, NY one year ago for my husband's job in the army at Fort Hood.  We are currently expectant parents with our first baby on the way!  Our 4 legged children are our two cats, Zobert and Cheese.  I joined the team at Pet Medical Center in September of 2010 and feel so lucky to work with such brilliant and dedicated team members.  Being a technician is extremely rewarding and I love my job!

I started working at Pet Medical Center in Febuaray 2007. I started as a kennel tech then worked my way to be a vet tech. For as long as I can remember, I loved being around animals and just learning about them. It gives me great joy caring for ones pet and just making them feel secure and knowing that they will be well taken care of from the great doctors that I have the privledge to work with.

I live with my husband Joe and we are expecting our first child to be born in June 2011.  We are very excited!! We also live with some of the greatest cats you'll ever meet starting with Snivel, Simba, Tigger, Skittles, Angel, Spirit, Lovey, Tipsy, Patches, and Tears. We also have two awesome dogs Fancy(australian sheperd) and Pearl(pit bull).  I love spending time with my family, friends and our furry babies.

Ever since I can remember I've been running around a veterinary clinic. My Mother, Britta, has worked in one since I started grade school. Then at the fresh age of 16 I started working for Pet Medical Center. And six years later I'm still here while I make my way through college. I live with my Husband and two dogs; Emma (pitbull) and Eli (chihuahua).

After years of moving with the military we knew we wanted to call Texas home.  In 2008 we finally settled here and while looking for a veterinarian for my pets I walked into Pet Medical Center, loved everything about it and submitted my resume.  My husband and I have four wonderful children: Anthony, Steven, Cedric and Vivian; and seven 4 legged children (well actually only six because one is 3 legged!): our two horses Jack and Joey, Holly my German Shepherd, Diesel my Great Dane, and Elvis, Beauty and Paul-Miki, my chihuahuas!

As a kid I loved animals and always took every opportunity to go to the vet with your pets.  After graduating high school I joined the army.  I recently retired and decided to finally persue a career working with animals by going to college to become a veterinary technician.  I did my internship at Pet Medical Center and loved it!!!  I now work here part time while going to school.

I work in the kennel at Pet Medical Center and get the privelage of taking care of your babies when you have to go out of town.  My approach to my job is to treat every pet that I take care of like they are my own, and luckily this is extremely easy because I love each and every one of our wonderful boarders!  I love my job and am grateful for the chance to get to know and love all of your 4 legged kids!!

Some say I was born with a passion for animals and if you could see my life's path you would see that it rings true.  I have owned animals most of my life.  I currently have two horses, four cats and an amazing German Shepherd.  I have operated a horse rescue, Red Cross incliment weather animal shelter, and am certified in Equine facility and pasture management.  I have been blessed to have worked with many great vets throughout my life and working here at Pet Medical Center my journey holds that course.

Harley

Harley is our resident cool cat. His days find him chasing Olivia around the offices up stairs, basking in the sun on Dr. Reed’s desk or keeping the receptionists company at their computer. He is always eager for an ear scratch and (as Dr. Jones is quick to point out) will be your best friend whenever you have food. Harley gave us all quite a scare a couple of years ago when his kidney values shot up and he got severely ill. But, with some fluid therapy to flush the toxins out of his system, some life long supplements to help reduce his phosphorous and a change of diet he is as good as new.

Olivia

Olivia is our kitty greeter. Whenever she gets out to roam about the clinic she heads straight to the lobby area so she can sit at the windows and watch the cars go by. Other favorite past times include lying on the receptionist’s desk, teasing Tank and Molly while they lay under the desk and playing with Harley upstairs. She is our one eyed cat ambassador and is great at helping clients who are faced with the tough decision of having to have one of their pets’ eyes removed. Just watch Olivia for a few minutes and it is clear it doesn’t slow her down a bit.

aggie

Aggie

Aggie is the clinic iguana who spends most of her time on top of the light in the enclosure. She has gotten to be pretty big and a good example of what those tiny little lizards in the pet store can grow into! Even though she seems pretty lazy don’t be fooled by her stillness, when it is feeding time she can really move!
