Human/Animal Bond |
| Have you ever had a low time in your life when you felt that the only one unconditionally there for you was your beloved pet? We should all take time out of our busy schedules to honor that human/animal bond that all real pet owners have experienced. Maybe that loyal pet was there for you during a painful divorce or the death of a loved one. Maybe he or she was there after a move when you were feeling lonely or after the loss of a job. Or was it just after a hard day at work? Our canine and feline companions are waiting for us, excited to see us and to listen to our problems without passing judgment. I have felt this warmth and camaraderie with many of my pets throughout my life during good times and bad. I solute our four-legged friends for what they do for us. Imagine what the world would be like if we treated each other with the same kind of respect and honor that our pets show us. Like some wise man once said "I wish I were the kind of person that my dog thinks I am." It is a proven fact that the simple act of petting a dog or cat can lower one's blood pressure and make us feel more relaxed. Take some time tonight to let your pet know how much you appreciate what they do for you. Good luck and good pet parenting. |
